The Los Rápidos Channel is one of the most stunning natural waterways in southern Quintana Roo. It is a narrow channel of crystal-clear turquoise water connecting Bacalar Lagoon with Xul-Há Lagoon. Its steady, gentle flow creates a natural lazy river where you can peacefully float with a life jacket or kayak through pristine mangroves.
The channel banks shelter ancient colonies of living stromatolites, fragile biological structures essential to the lagoon’s ecosystem and colors. Los Rápidos: land access is temporarily closed until further notice. The area can only be visited by water or on a boat tour.
